Privacy Policy
The data controller for Ink & Stone Games is the operator identified on the Contact & Legal Information page.
1. Data we process
- Checkout email address and transaction/access identifiers needed to issue and recover game access.
- Purchase, activation and expiry timestamps and access status.
- A randomly generated device identifier used to keep one game access linked to one device.
- Information you provide when you contact support.
- Suggestions or feedback you choose to submit through the website, plus an optional email address if you want a reply.
- After a game, you may voluntarily submit a 1–5 rating and written player feedback. This is linked to the private game access to verify that it came from a real player. You may separately opt in to let Ink & Stone Games quote your written feedback publicly; your email address is not published as part of that permission.
- Basic first-party site analytics such as page/game views, buy-button clicks, anonymous session/browser identifiers, referring website host and campaign tags included in links. These are used to understand which games and pages are useful.
- If you explicitly allow optional marketing measurement, the Meta Pixel may receive website events such as page views, game/product views, checkout starts and completed purchases, together with information normally processed by Meta for advertising measurement. The Meta Pixel is not loaded before you grant marketing consent.
- Anonymous interest votes such as “I'd play this” for upcoming games.
- Technical request information normally processed by hosting and security infrastructure, such as IP address, browser/request metadata and logs.
2. Location data
The games may ask your browser for location when needed to verify that you have reached a checkpoint. Precise GPS coordinates are intended to be processed in the browser for gameplay checks and are not intentionally stored in the game-access database.
3. Why we use data
We process data to provide the purchased game, create and recover access, enforce the one-device access model, prevent abuse, provide support, maintain security, handle disputes and comply with applicable legal obligations. If you submit a suggestion or feedback, we use it to review ideas, improve the games or website, and reply only if you voluntarily provide an email address. Verified player ratings and comments are used to improve the games and understand player satisfaction. Written player feedback is used publicly as a testimonial only when you explicitly opt in to that use. We also use first-party analytics and anonymous interest votes to understand demand, improve navigation and decide which games to prioritize. If you grant marketing consent, optional Meta Pixel events are used to measure advertising performance and help improve ad targeting and campaign reporting.
4. Service providers
We use service providers necessary to operate the product, including Stripe for checkout/payment services, Vercel for hosting, Neon for database infrastructure and Resend for transactional email. If you grant optional marketing consent, Meta Platforms may also process advertising-measurement data through the Meta Pixel. These providers process data under their own terms and applicable data-protection arrangements.
5. Payment data
Ink & Stone Games does not receive or store your full payment-card number or card security code. Payment information is handled by Stripe through the checkout service.
6. Browser storage
The games use browser local storage for essential functionality, including the private access token, device identifier, access expiry information and game progress/state. This is necessary for access control and resuming the game. The public website also stores a random anonymous browser identifier, a session identifier, a short-lived campaign tag when you arrive through a tagged link, and whether you have already voted for an upcoming game, so basic first-party analytics and duplicate-vote prevention can work without an account. Your marketing-consent choice is stored in the browser so we can remember whether the optional Meta Pixel may be loaded. If you allow the Meta Pixel, Meta may set or read advertising-related cookies or similar browser identifiers; if you decline, the Meta Pixel is not loaded by Ink & Stone Games.
7. Marketing consent
Optional marketing measurement is off until you choose ALLOW META PIXEL. You can change your choice at any time using the Privacy choices control shown on pages where site analytics are active. Withdrawing consent stops future Meta Pixel events from being sent by the website and attempts to remove Meta advertising cookies that are accessible on this domain.
8. Retention
Personal data is kept for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and recover access, resolve support issues or disputes, maintain service security and meet applicable legal or accounting obligations.
9. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. You may also lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data-protection authority (CNPD) or another competent supervisory authority.
