Terms of Use
These terms govern access to and use of the historical self-guided city games sold through Ink & Stone Games. The service operator is identified on the Contact & Legal Information page.
1. What you are buying
One purchase provides one team with access to the selected digital game for use on one smartphone. Each game is designed as a self-guided outdoor experience in the destination shown on its product page and requires the player's own compatible smartphone, mobile internet and location services.
2. Access and activation
Purchasing a game does not start its play window. The access period shown on the product page and activation screen begins only when the player presses START GAME for the first time. Once activated, access is linked to that device and remains available for the stated period, subject to these terms. Most city games currently use a 24-hour window; Vespera 1897 uses a 48-hour window.
Private access links and recovery links must not be published, resold or shared outside the purchasing team.
3. Digital-content withdrawal consent
If you start the game during an applicable statutory withdrawal period, you will be asked to expressly request immediate performance of the digital content and acknowledge that beginning performance may cause you to lose the statutory right of withdrawal, as permitted by applicable consumer law. 4. Technical requirements
The games require a modern mobile browser, JavaScript, local browser storage, a reasonably accurate GPS/location service and an internet connection. Device settings, network coverage, battery level and third-party platform availability can affect play.
5. Outdoor play and safety
These are outdoor walking experiences. Players remain responsible for their own safety and must obey traffic rules, signs, barriers, opening restrictions and instructions from public authorities or property owners. Do not enter restricted or unsafe areas, and do not use the phone while crossing roads or where doing so would be unsafe.
Route conditions can change because of construction, weather, events, closures or other circumstances outside our control. Where a location is temporarily inaccessible, contact support for assistance.
6. Intellectual property
The games' text, puzzles, artwork, video, audio, software and other original materials are protected content. Purchase grants a limited, personal, non-transferable right to play the selected game with your team. Copying, redistributing, publishing, extracting, reselling or creating a competing product from substantial parts of a game is not permitted except where the law expressly allows it.
7. Support and conformity
If a technical problem prevents access or a game does not operate as reasonably expected, contact support promptly. Nothing in these terms excludes mandatory consumer rights concerning conformity of digital content or services.
8. Payment
Direct checkout is provided through Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe's merchant-of-record service handles the transaction and may provide transaction receipts, payment support, indirect-tax handling and dispute processing under its applicable terms. Ink & Stone Games remains responsible for the game content and product support.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion is prohibited by law. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not responsible for losses caused solely by a player's unsafe conduct, unsupported devices, loss of connectivity, failure to follow instructions, or circumstances outside reasonable control.
10. Changes
The games may receive technical or content updates. Material terms applicable to a purchase will not be changed retroactively in a way that removes mandatory consumer rights.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by applicable Portuguese law, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections that apply to them under EU or other applicable consumer law. For support or complaints, use the details on the Contact & Legal Information page.
